Why we picked it

A dead battery in a parking lot stops being an emergency when this lives in your trunk: the GB40 is a pocketable lithium jump starter that gets cars, trucks and SUVs going again without flagging down a stranger for cables. Small enough for a glove box, built for the day you actually need it.

Highlights

• Jump-starts gas and diesel engines without another car
• Compact lithium pack that fits a glove box
• Spark-proof, reverse-polarity-safe clamps
• Doubles as a USB power bank and flashlight
